Would appear to be a risky decision on AT&T's part, or maybe pure laziness It also allows for the update of new Factory fresh gateways that may have shipped or from inventory with an older Firmware level to be updated the first time they are connected to the network at installation time. New updates are cumulative and are pushed out to the different gateway models on a schedule based on market. The network management ACS system knows the firmware of every gateway's firmware level. They don't want certain customers downloading older versions of the Firmware for the hardware to hack key features (yes I am leaving out details). Only reason I can come up with for no longer providing a certain update would be due to negative issues. You replied to 3 month old post yesterday and yes the most current Firmware is 2.12.4 that just started rolling out this month "May 2021". I have the same router/modem combo running Firmware version 2.12.4
